5 Ways to Engage Attendees Before and After an Event

You’ve just hosted a conference, fundraiser or event. Your participants are energized and engaged. Knowledge and information was shared. Connections were made. Motivation and focus were renewed. It was an all-around success.

Now that the event is over, the experience doesn’t have end. In fact, it’s the perfect time to keep the conversations, ideas, energy and networking going.

By creating opportunities to stay connected, event participants can interact with one another, continue learning and sharing resources. Post-event experiences allow your community to stay engaged with you and see your organization as a resource and partner.

When your live event rolls around the following year, your audience will be eager to buy their event tickets and book travel.

Here are a few ways to keep your community engaged throughout the year:

Newsletter –Share relevant content with your audience by publishing a weekly or monthly newsletter throughout the year. Writing articles that provide solutions to your audience’s top challenges builds brand awareness and establishes your organization as a trusted resource and leader in the industry.

Webinars – Webinars provide an opportunity to dive deeper into a topic you’ve written about in a newsletter or discussed at your event. Webinars are a great way to feature a speaker or preview a session at an upcoming event. Webinar platforms like GoToWebinar, Webinar Jam and Zoom are easy to set up, offer the ability to share slides and interact with attendees via chat.

Community Groups –LinkedIn and Facebook provide free groups that only take a few minutes to set up. Post questions, share updates, moderate discussions and watch your community grow. The conversations are a great resource to develop session topics for your event program or generate new services and products.

Virtual meet-ups – If you’re craving connection, and want to expand your customer base, why not host a monthly online meet-up? Set a topic for the meeting and invite participants to ask questions and join in the discussion. It’s a great opportunity to build relationships while providing value to your clients.

Videos and Live streaming – Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo and other platforms offer live and recorded video sharing. Post how-to videos, behind the scenes highlights, or Q&As with your viewers. Whether recorded live or in advance, the videos will remain on your social media channels to be viewed and shared.

If you have questions about your in-person or online events set up a time to talk.
